A delegation of 20 MPs from the Opposition bloc went on a two-day visit to violence-hit Manipur on Saturday. The delegation took stock of the ground situation and would make recommendations to the government and the Parliament for a solution. • On Sunday, the delegation met with Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey and submitted a memorandum signed by 21 Opposition MPs demanding urgent rehabilitation and resettlement of the affected people to bring peace and harmony to the state.
  • Targeting the Modi government, the MPs questioned the 'Prime Minister's silence' in the memorandum which said "silence of Hon'ble Prime Minister shows his brazen indifference to the violence in Manipur'.
  • The Parliamentarians also raised the issue of internet suspension in the state for the last three months saying it is aiding the unsubstantiated rumours, which is adding to the existing mistrust among the communities.
