Maharashtra: Amid Ongoing Tussle, Fadnavis And Sena Leader Diwakar Raote Meet Governor Separately
The meeting of Maharashtra CM, which was termed as a “courtesy call” by Raj Bhawan official comes amid the ongoing scuffle with ally Shiv Sena over sharing of power in the government.
New Delhi: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena leader Diwakar Raote, on Monday met with Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, separately.
The meeting of Maharashtra CM, which was termed as a “courtesy call” by Raj Bhawan official comes amid the ongoing scuffle with ally Shiv Sena over sharing of power in the government.
While Sena has demanded a rotational Chief Minister formula in Maharashtra, CM Fadnavis has said that the alliance will be BJP-led as BJP was the single largest party.
Earlier, both the parties claimed they wanted to extend Diwali greetings to the governor, and denied that there would be any political discussion on the formation of next government in the state.
Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray reminded the BJP of the 50:50 formula "agreed upon" between himself, BJP president Amit Shah and Fadnavis ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
On Saturday, he demanded a written assurance from the BJP for implementing "equal formula for sharing of power" before holding talks on staking the claim to form the next alliance government in the state.
The results for 288 Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra were declared on Thursday with the BJP securing a total of 105 seats and its alliance partner Shiv Sena, 56 seats.
As per the Election Commission, BJP secured 105 seats, Shiv Sena (56), Congress (44) and the Nationalist Congress Party (54).
