MP: Over 100 Fall Ill After Having Food At Wedding Party In Dhar District

More than 100 people fell ill after having food at a wedding function. The guests started vomiting and suffered from stomach aches around 3 pm and by evening their health deteriorated.

New Delhi: More than 100 people fell ill after having food at a wedding function in the Dhamnod area of the Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh. The guests at the wedding returned to their homes after having food at around 11 am on Friday, news agency ANI reported.

The guests started vomiting and suffered from stomach aches around 3 pm and by evening their health deteriorated, ANI reported. They were immediately admitted to the government health centre and private hospitals in the area. Dhamnod Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr. B R Kausal said that around 20 people were admitted to the government health centre and others were admitted to different private hospitals.

"The patients attended a wedding ceremony at a temple in the area. After having food at the function, they started vomiting. They were admitted to hospitals and were out of danger," ANI reported Kausal as saying.

In another incident, at least five people, including a 12-year-old child, were killed and six others were injured when a chimney of a brick kiln collapsed on them in Assam’s Cachar district on Friday. The injured persons are currently undergoing treatment.

Earlier, the Superintendent of Police of Cachar district, Numal Mahatta told ANI that two people were killed and 7 others were injured in the incident but the death toll increased to five on Saturday morning. Khalil Uddin Mazumder, MLA from Katigora Assembly constituency, said the chimney of the brick kiln collapsed and fell on several people.

The incident took place in the Kalain area in the Katigora Assembly constituency, about 29 km from Silchar town in the Cachar district. An investigation into the incident has been initiated by the police.
