This comes amid the ongoing surge in Covid-19 cases fueled by the newly detected Omicron variant. The recent surge in daily caseload has forced several state governments to once again implement curbs and restrictions.
Currently, there are 200 cases of Omicron variant across the country with Maharashtra and Delhi leading the chart. However, the Union Health Ministry has informed that 77 patients out of 200 have recovered or migrated.
Maharashtra and Delhi have recorded 54 cases of the Omicron variant each, while Telangana registered 20 cases, Karnataka 19, Rajasthan 18, Kerala 15, and Gujarat 14 cases.
Meanwhile, the government is monitoring the Omicron situation everyday and constantly assessing this new Covid variant with experts.
"I have spoken with the states on this Covid variant and also an SOP has been issued for travellers landing from abroad for preventing the infection," Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya recently told the Rajya Sabha.
