Land-For-Jobs Case: Delhi Court Summons Ex-Bihar CM Rabri Devi, Misa Bharti To Appear On Feb 9

Delhi's Rouse Avenue court took cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate and fixed February 9 for the appearance of the accused persons before the court.

Land-For-Jobs Case: A Delhi court has issued summons to former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her daughter Misa Bharti over allegations of money laundering pertaining to the railways land-for-job case. According to news agency ANI, the court took cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate and fixed February 9 for the appearance of the accused persons before the court.

Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court took cognisance of the chargesheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate and issued summons to Rabri Devi and her daughters Misa Bharti, Hema Yadav, and other accused, as reported by news agency ANI. The court also issued a production warrant for businessman Amit Katyal, who is presently in judicial custody in the case. While passing the order, Special Judge Vishal Gogne said that there are sufficient grounds to take cognisance.

An alleged "close associate" of the Yadav family Katyal (49), railway employee and alleged beneficiary Hridayanand Chaudhary, two firms A K Infosystems Pvt. Ltd. and A B Exports Pvt. Ltd., through their common director Shariqul Bari, have also been named in the chargesheet, as reported by news agency PTI.

Katyal was arrested in the alleged case by the probe agency in November last year while former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was summoned by the agency but is yet to depose. However, his son and Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav has deposed once before the agency. He has been asked to appear again before it.

The ED is expected to file supplementary chargesheets in the case, PTI reported.

Land-For-Jobs Scam Case

The alleged scam pertains to the period when Lalu Yadav was the railway minister in the UPA-1 government. It is alleged that from 2004 to 2009, several people were appointed to Group "D" positions in various zones of the Indian Railways and in return, these people transferred their land as bribes to the family members of the then railway minister and a linked company named A K Infosystems Private Limited.
