Kharge On Rozgar Mela: Modi's Appointment Letters Also Include Those Getting Promotions

His remarks came ahead of the Prime Minister distributing more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits at the Rozgar Mela.

New Delhi: Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rashtriya Rozgar Mela, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said on Monday that he is distributing the recruitment letters in the form of EMIs - 'Empty Manipulative Installments'

Kharge claimed that the appointment letters given by Modi also include those who are getting promotions.

His remarks came ahead of the Prime Minister distributing more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly inducted recruits at the Rozgar Mela.

Taking to social media platform X, Kharge wrote in Hindi, "EMI — Empty Manipulative Instalments. By promising 2 crore jobs to youths per year, Modi ji is distributing jobs to a few thousand youths in the form of EMI. Today he will also do the same. It has come to notice that in the list of new appointees to the government departments, there are many who are getting promotions."

He said that for example, as per records shared by the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) in Mohali in April this year, 15 people were given appointment letters while it was decided to promote 21 people. They were given appointment letters during the Rozgar Mela.

Similarly, in Maulana Azad National Urdu University in April 2023, 38 people were issued appointment letters. However, 18 out of 38 were promotees.

Taking a swipe at the Prime Minister, Kharge said that if he was genuinely worried about the youths' future, he would not have indulged in PR stunt.

"Modiji, if you are really worried about the future of youths then you would not have been involved in PR stunts to play with their aspirations. Youths of the country have identified the lies, rhetoric and betrayal of the BJP and in 2024 they will show the exit door to the Modi government," Kharge added.

Notably, the Rozgar Mela initiative was launched in October last year and Monday's event was held at 45 centers.

The newly-inducted recruits, who have been selected from across the country, will be joining various posts such as constable (general duty), sub-inspector (general duty) and non-general duty cadre positions in various organisations under the Ministry of Home Affairs, the PMO statement further said.

It is to be noted that MHA aims to recruit personnel in central armed police forces (CAPFs) such as Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Shashtra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and the Delhi Police, through the Rozgar Mela.
