Kashmir: Encounter breaks out during search operation in Budgam, 2 terrorists killed

Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police have registered a case and initiated investigation in the instant matter.

New Delhi: The security forces on Thursday gunned down two terrorists, as an encounter broke out in Zagoo area of Khan Sahib, in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. This took place as a search operation was launched jointly by a team of police and security forces based on credible inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. During search operation, hiding terrorist fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter. In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were neutralized. Their identities are being ascertained. Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police have registered a case and initiated investigation in the instant matter. Citizens are once again requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any. Stone pelting after killing of 2 terrorists: Soon after security forces gunned down two terrorists in Budgam, hefty stone pelting could be seen in the valley. The stone pelting was done by locals who were angry with the security forces over killing of terrorists.
