JNU research assistant falls to death while rock-climbing in campus

The assistant, who has been identified as Praveen Tiwari, hailed from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He was staying at JNU's Brahmaputra Hostel in the university campus.

New Delhi: A thirty-year-old research scholar in Delhi’s Jawahar Lal Nehru University died after falling off a cliff while rock-climbing at JNU campus. He was a research assistant at Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). The incident which took place on Sunday and the horrifying moment has been recorded in a video being shot by his friend. The assistant, who has been identified as Praveen Tiwari, hailed from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He was staying at JNU's Brahmaputra Hostel in the university campus Tiwari had recently joined ICSSR. He did not have any ropes tied to him during rock climbing, police said. "He slipped and fell and was taken to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. There was no foul play as his friend was recording a video, which has captured the incident," a senior police officer said.
