Mehbooba Blames Team India's Orange Jersey For Defeat Against England; Gets Slammed by J&K BJP Chief

New Delhi: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti on Monday triggered a controversy as she blamed Indian cricket team’s saffron jersey for its defeat to England in World Cup’s Sunday match. After her comment, Mufti was slammed by Bharatiya Janata Party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit chief Ravinder Raina who called her a "supporter" of Pakistan. Raina said that Mufti's heart bleeds for Pakistan and that is the reason why she spoke out against team India's jersey. After team India’s first defeat in World Cup against Pakistan, Mehbooba Mufti tweeted against the new orange Jersey that team was donning. “Call me superstitious but I’d say it’s  the jersey that ended India’s winning streak in the ICC World Cup 2019,” she wrote on the micro-blogging website.

Before India and England’s match in the World Cup, BCCI had introduced Indian cricket team's alternate jersey for the particular match, to avoid colour clash with the opposing team. As the cricket fans from India and Pakistan rooted together for India's win against England on Sunday, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said that for a change both India and Pakistan were on the same page. "Pakistani cricket fans are rooting for India to win the match against England. Chalo kum say kum cricket ke bahaane (at least on cricket's pretext), for a change both countries are on the same page," Mehbooba wrote on Twitter.
