Two grenades were discovered from their possession by police. Shakir Akber Gojree, a resident of Bandipora, and Mohsin Wani, a resident of Baramulla, were detained.

Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two people from Sopore after busting an overground worker (OGW) module of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), news agency ANI reported.

According to authorities, a combined naka (checkpoint) was set up in collaboration with the Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) near Gousiabad Chowk Chinkipora, which is under the jurisdiction of the Sopore police station.

During the inspection, a suspicious movement of two people moving from Dangerpora towards Chinkipora was observed and they were requested to halt, but they attempted to leave. Security officers then captured the pair.

Two grenades were discovered from their possession by police. Shakir Akber Gojree, a resident of Bandipora, and Mohsin Wani, a resident of Baramulla, were detained.

According to police, early investigations indicated that the arrested individuals are over ground workers (OGWs) of the banned group LeT who are always looking for opportunities to carry out assaults on security personnel and civilians.

As a result, a case has been filed at the Sopore police station under relevant parts of the law.

During the inquiry, the detained couple divulged the identities of other OGW accomplices, leading to the arrest and recovery of more weaponry and ammunition, including a Chinese handgun, a pistol magazine, seven live pistol rounds, 25 AK 47 rounds, and explosive material.

Other OGWs were identified as Himayun Shariq, a resident of Sopore, and Faizan Ashraf Wani, a resident of Nadihal Rafiabad, according to police. More research is being conducted.
