Cold Wave Brings Temperatures To Record Lows In J&K, Ladakh; Leh Reels At -10°C, Zojila Hits -18°C
A few places experienced the season's coldest night on Thursday.
Cold weather conditions have intensified in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh on Friday, with Srinagar recording temperatures as low as -4.1 degrees Celcius and Pahalgam -6.5 degrees Celcius. Qazigund -- the gateway town to the Valley in south Kashmir -- recorded -4.4 degrees Celcius meanwhile, at ski resort Gulmarg it was -4.3 degrees Celsius while the temperature in Kupwara was recorded at -3.4 degrees Celsius. The temperature of Kokergaon was recorded at 1.4 degrees Celsius.

Due to the cold, other water sources in the valley including Dal Lake have started freezing. The MeT Department has also expressed concerns regarding the intensifying impact of the chilly weather in the region.
On Thursday, a few places experienced the season's coldest night. The Met department said the weather would stay generally dry till December 7, and a further fall in night temperature is expected while the days would be warmer. There is a possibility of light rain over a few plain and hilly areas in Jammu division, and light rain/light snow over a few places in the higher reaches during late night on December 8 to the morning of December 9, the Met office said.
The weather would remain dry from December 10-14, while there is a possibility of light rain/light snow over isolated places from December 15-16.
