2 Terrorists Killed As Security Forces Foil Infiltration Bid In J&K's Uri Sector

A group of armed terrorists attempted to enter across the LoC, he added, taking advantage of lousy weather defined by constant rain and limited visibility.

Security forces stopped an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri area on Sunday, killing two terrorists, according to a defence spokesperson, news agency PTI reported. Based on specific information and J-K Police inputs of possible infiltration in the Uri sector by highly armed terrorists from across the LoC, soldiers were placed on high alert, and the counter-infiltration grid was tightened, according to a Srinagar-based army spokesperson.

A group of armed terrorists attempted to enter across the LoC, he added, taking advantage of lousy weather defined by constant rain and limited visibility.

The group was met by alert forces at 3 p.m. on Saturday, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire. He stated that the intense gunfire lasted until last light and resulted in the elimination of two terrorists.

According to the spokesman, the remaining terrorists retreated to the enemy side of the LoC, along with the remains of the deceased terrorists.

Throughout the night, the location was under constant monitoring.

According to the spokesperson, a thorough search of the incident site was conducted on Sunday, which resulted in the identification of tell-tale signs and the recovery of heavy war-like stores such as two AK series rifles, six pistols, four Chinese grenades, blankets, and two blood-stained bags containing Pakistani and Indian currency notes, Pakistani medicines, and eatables.

“As per own assessment, recovery of two blood-stained bags confirms that at least two terrorists were grievously injured forcing them to shed their load and flee across the LoC. Due to inclement weather conditions, search operation is suspended, which will resume on opening up of weather,” he was quoted by PTI in its report.
