The glitch came to light right after the portal opened for Tatkal ticket booking at 10:00 am this morning. As thousands of passengers try to book tickets during the Tatkal period (from 10:00 am -12 noon), the IRCTC application and the website normally face outages. At 10:03 am, IRCTC tweeted that due to technical reasons the ticketing service is not available. "Our technical team is resolving the issue. We will notify as soon as the technical issue is fixed," it said. The services remain affected for hours.
Notably, tatkal for AC ticket booking opens at 10:00 am every day and for sleeper class tickets, it opens at 11:00 am every day.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) was incorporated on September 27, 1999. It provides ticketing, catering, and tourism services for the Indian Railways.
