'Completely Ludicrous': Centre Refutes Reports Of Indian Missiles Hitting Afghanistan

The Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Defence addressed a press conference on Saturday over the ongoing escalation between India and Pakistan.

The Centre on Saturday refuted claims of Indian missiles hitting Afghanistan as "completely ludicrous."

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, "Completely ludicrous claim that Indian missiles have hit Afghanistan...totally frivolous allegation."

"Afghan people don't need to be reminded about which country it is that has on multiple occasions in just the last one and a half years targeted civilian populations and civilian infrastructure in Afghanistan," he added.

The Foreign Secretary's clarification came as Pakistan Army spokesperson Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif claimed in a televised address on Friday that Indian missiles that targeted air bases in Pakistan also went into Afghanistan.

According to the spokesperson, the Indian missiles targeted Nur Khan Air Base in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, Murid Air Base in Chakwal City and Rafiqui Air Base in the Jhang district of eastern Punjab province.

"Some of the Indian missiles also went into Afghanistan," he added.
