India Rolls Out Annual FASTag Pass: Here’s How It Works and How To Get Yours

Govt introduces Annual FASTag Pass at ₹3,000 for 200 toll trips/year. Fully digital activation via Rajmarg Yatra app, NHAI & MoRTH sites. Launches August 15, 2025. Here's how to get it.

Every day, millions of vehicles crisscross India’s highways — and for drivers of four-wheelers, toll booths are a regular part of the journey. To make toll payments faster and more efficient, the government introduced FASTag — a simple, electronic toll collection system that deducts the toll fee automatically.

Now, in a significant move to make travel even smoother, the government is introducing an Annual FASTag Pass, aimed at reducing the hassle of frequent recharges and offering a more seamless experience on national highways.

Say Goodbye to Recharges: What the Annual FASTag Pass Offers

With the new Annual FASTag Pass, vehicle owners can avoid the need to top up their FASTag accounts repeatedly. Priced at ₹3,000, this one-time payment pass will be valid for 200 trips per year—or until the trip count is reached, whichever comes first.

This is a game-changer for regular highway commuters, offering not just savings but also peace of mind. No more low-balance alerts, no more missed tolls—just one simple payment to keep you moving all year.

How to Get the Annual FASTag Pass

If you haven’t already switched to this annual system, getting on board is easier than ever. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari recently announced that the process to obtain and renew the annual pass is going fully digital—no paperwork, no queues.

A dedicated link will soon be available via the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app, as well as on the official websites of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH). From there, users will be able to complete the entire process with just a few clicks.

Activation Made Simple

Mark your calendars—August 15, 2025, is the official launch date for the Annual FASTag Pass.

Once the scheme is live, users can log into their FASTag account via the Rajmarg Yatra app or the relevant government portals. While full step-by-step activation instructions are yet to be revealed, the government has confirmed that a dedicated digital platform will be in place to make the entire process effortless.

The pass will also be subject to annual review, ensuring continued ease of use and scope for improvements based on user feedback.
