Independence Day 2023 Celebration HIGHLIGHTS: Hello and welcome to ABP Live's blog on the 77th Independence Day celebrations. As we kick off the festivities all eyes will be on the Red Fort from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver his speech to the nation. This year's Independence Day holds special significance as it culminates the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', a journey of remembrance and celebration launched by Prime Minister Modi in March 2021. This is also Narendra Modi's 10th speech straight and the one before the next general elections.
The Prime Minister will commence the day by inspecting the Guard of Honour at the Red Fort. Following this, he will ascend to the ramparts of the fort, where he will be greeted by key dignitaries including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral R Hari Kumar, and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari.
The unfurling of the National Flag by the Prime Minister will be accompanied by a spectacular display of flower petals being showered at the venue, executed by two Advanced Light Helicopters Mark-III Dhruv of the Indian Air Force in the Line Astern Formation.

Embracing the spirit of Jan Bhagidari (public participation), this year's celebrations introduce a range of new initiatives. Around 1,800 Special Guests from diverse backgrounds have been cordially invited, including Sarpanchs from over 660 vibrant villages, individuals associated with Farmer Producer Organizations, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, participants of the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, and dedicated workers of the Central Vista Project, including the New Parliament Building. The event will also showcase seventy-five couples from each State and Union Territory, donned in traditional attire, alongside the participation of 1,100 NCC cadets from across the nation. Adding to the festivities, the G-20 logo will grace the floral decorations at the Red Fort.
