Independence Day 2022: PM Modi's eye-catching turbans and kurtas have been a highlight of his Independence Day appearances since 2014.
Continuing his tradition of donning flamboyant and colourful turbans, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chose a white headgear printed with tricolour for the 76th Independence Day celebrations at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi on Monday. PM Modi's eye-catching turbans and kurtas have been a highlight of his Independence Day appearances.
For his attire, PM Modi chose a traditional white kurta and pajama paired with a blue Nehru coat. He sported a a white turban with tricolour print on it, in line with 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign as he arrived at Rajghat to pay his tribute to Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi before heading towards Red Fort for the main celebration.

For the 75th Independence Day in 2021, PM Modi wore a saffron headgear with red patterns and a long tail. He also wore a kurta along with a blue jacket and a stole.
In 2020, at the 74th Independence Day celebrations, the prime minister sported a saffron and cream headgear. He had paired the 'safa' with a half-sleeve kurta along with a white scarf with a saffron border.
In 2019, when the BJP returned to office for a second consecutive term with a thumping majority, PM Modi sported a multi-coloured turban as he gave his sixth Independence Day speech.
The previous year, he donned a saffron turban for his appearance at the Red Fort. The prime minister's turban for 2017 was a mix of bright red and yellow with crisscrossed golden lines.
In 2015, PM Modi went for a yellow turban with multi-coloured criss-cross lines. The PM chose a tie and dye turban in hues of pink and yellow in 2016.
For his maiden Independence Day in 2014, he wore a bright red Jodhpuri bandhej turban.
