Hyderabad Encounter: Mayawati, Uma Bharti, Shivraj Other Political Leaders Welcome Police Action

"The action that has been taken by the Hyderabad Police is praiseworthy," Mayawati said, reacting to the encounter killings of the four accused arrested in connection with the case.

New Delhi: Political leaders cutting across party lines have come out to welcome Hyderabad police after the encounter of the accused in the Hyderabad veterinarian rape and murder case. BSP president Mayawati on Friday asked the Uttar Pradesh Police and the Delhi Police to take inspiration from them. "The action that has been taken by the Hyderabad Police is praiseworthy," Mayawati said, reacting to the encounter killings of the four accused arrested in connection with the case. "In UP, this is happening every day not just in one district but in every district. Be it young girls or aged women, nobody is being spared. There is jungle raj in UP," she said, adding that when she was chief minister she had acted even against members of her own party. BJP Leader Uma Bharati in a series of tweet, said that though the pain of the aggrieved family cannot be mitigated, but the soul of the victim will now find peace. ‘I also hope that those in power in other states will also take inspiration from this,’ she said. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, "the entire country is now relaxed, those who committed sin got punished. This is what bad deeds result in." Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “when a criminal tries to escape, police are left with no other option, it can be said that justice has been done.” “People had anger over the rape cases that have come to light of late , whether it is Unnao or Hyderabad, so now people are expressing happiness over the encounter,” said Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. “It is also something to be worried about, the way people have lost their faith in the criminal justice system. Together all the governments will have to take action on how to strengthen criminal justice system,” he added. RJD leader Rabri Devi said: "What happened in Hyderabad will act as a deterrent against criminals surely, we welcome this. In Bihar as well, cases of crimes against women are increasing. The state Govt here is lax and doing nothing."
