Heavy Rains Batter South Gujarat's Valsad; Water-Logging Throws Life Out Of Gear
Continuous rainfall has led to impoundment of water at several places, throwing daily life out of gear.
New Delhi: Torrential downpour that has been battering Gujarat’s Valsad, has deluged the district and has unsettled the pace of life there.
Intermittent rains have been lashing different parts of the district. Within last 24 hours, Kaprada and Valsad have recorded 8.5 inches of rains. Dharampur and Vapi have recorded 8 inches, while Pardi has recorded 6 inches.
Continuous rainfall has led to impoundment of water at several places, throwing daily life out of gear.
Water gushed inside houses, malls, elevators and shops, in Vapi, bringing the place to halt.
Heavy rainfall in Valsad threw life out of gear with several areas in the district getting water-logged, causing difficulty for commuters and residents of low-lying areas. Gareeb Nawaz society, Aradhana society and Chhipwad were heavily flooded with water.
Even streets like Kailash Rad, Gunjan Char Rasta, and the Mumbai-Ahmedbad highway were inundated by rainwater. Several temples and churches were also filled with water.
Several check dams and lakes have started overflowing while Auranga and Par rivers have swelled.
In Central Gujarat, places including Anand, Dahod, Kheda, Vadodara and Chhota Udepur were also lashed by heavy rains.
21 districts of the state have received rains in the last 24 hours.
The water-level in Sardar Sarovar dam has swelled to 120.32 metres.
