Haryana| Minor Girl Allegedly Gang Raped In Rewari, 5 Of The 9 Accused Are 10-Yr-Old

A police official, who was part of the team that questioned the accused, said the boys said they had raped the girl after watching a porn video and on the instigation of the 18-year-old man.

Rewari: In a gut-wrenching incident, a 10-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by 9 boys in a village in Rewari district, police said on Wednesday. The incident came to light only after the video of the rape went viral. The video was shot by the 9 accused a man and eight minors who uploaded the video online, the police said. The family realised the crime only three weeks later after the video went viral on WhatsApp, they said.

Five of the minors accused of rape are aged between 10 and 12. In their complaint, the 10-year-old girl’s family said the incident took place on May 24 when the victim was playing outside her house. 

They said some of the accused filmed the act and circulated the video locally, which reached the victim's father, who lodged a complaint.

Police said the school was closed due to summer holidays and children, including the girl, were playing there when the incident took place on May 24.

Eight minor boys and an 18-year-old were involved in the incident, Rewari's Deputy Superintendent of Police Hansraj told reporters.

An official at the women police station said while some of the accused have been booked on the rape charge, others are accused of making a video on their mobile phones.

The girl did not narrate the incident at home but when the video reached her father, he lodged a complaint on Tuesday and we immediately registered an FIR, the DSP said.

He said the minors involved in the act have been sent to an observation home while the 18-year-old accused has been arrested.

The child was playing in the school compound close to her home. The accused took her inside and committed the crime, the DSP said, adding further investigation was under way.
