Guarding the nation is our Diwali, says BSF Commander

SRINAGAR: : Border Security Force Inspector General Vikash Chandra on Saturday said guarding the nation on the border is the way the force likes to celebrate Diwali.   "Our boys are retaliating. Nitin Subhash was firing a long-range weapon. Unfortunately, round blasted in the chamber itself, giving recoil to his shoulder. He was given treatment, but he complained of breathlessness, and by 11, a swelling had developed on his shoulder and neck, and he succumbed to his injuries," Chandra told said. "At the moment, firing has stopped and things are under control. We are prepared for all challenges which come our way and the morale of the boys is high. They will face any situation come what may. Some increased tension is there and that is being handled appropriately. These things happen when the enemy is hell-bound to create problems. In the present circumstances, infiltration is next to impossible. Infiltration is not possible at the moment and we are prepared. Firing is continuing in other sectors also and it was known that they will fire," he added. Chandra on his Diwali message said "Guarding the nation on border is Diwali for us. I will ask my boys to keep their morale high. One billion population is behind them. So, they should feel proud about it and should continue with whatever duties have been assigned to them," On Friday night, a BSF soldier lost his life in the Machhal sector, along the Line of Control. Meanwhile, heavy mortar shelling by Pakistan has been reported in Kathua and Abdullian areas of the RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Indian troops are giving a befitting response to the ceasefire violations initiated by Pakistan. Ever since the Indian Army on September 29th carried out surgical strikes targeting terror launch pads in PoK, ceasefire violations are a daily norm along the LoC and five Indians, including four security personnel, have been killed and 34 injured since. On October 21st, the BSF killed seven Pakistan Rangers and a terrorist in Kathua and on October 25, around three Pakistani Army personnel were reportedly killed in retaliatory firing by Indian troops in the Noushera sector of Rajouri district.
