Fully Vaccinated Rajasthan Woman Tests Positive For Delta Plus Variant, Recovers
A fully vaccinated 65-year-old woman in Rajasthan's Bikaner district has tested positive for the Delta Plus variant of SARS-CoV-2, making it the first case of the mutant virus infection in the State.
Bikaner: The country has been facing a new concern related to Covid 19 with the surge of Delta variant and Delta plus variant in the country. Now a case in Rajasthan has scared everyone. A woman who was fully vaccinated against Covid-19 was the first person to have tested positive for the Delta Plus variant in Rajasthan, the Bikaner health officer has said.
According to a report by PTI, the sample of a woman who was tested positive for coronavirus was sent to the National Institute of Virology in Pune on May 30 for genome sequencing and her test report came on Friday.

"The Delta-plus variant was found in the woman's sample. She has already recovered from the Covid infection," Bikaner's Chief Medical and Health Officer, Dr OP Chahar, said.
He said it was the first confirmed case of the Delta Plus variant in the state. “She was asymptomatic and has recovered completely. She had already received both doses of Covaxin," Dr Chahar said.
He added that medical officials have also conducted sampling in the Bangla Nagar area of Bikaner where the woman lived.
Rajasthan government is taking this issue seriously. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said that there will be no laxity in services and the new guidelines will ensure that the Delta plus variant does not spread across the state.
Delta plus variant has also been traced in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. The highest number of patients have been reported in Maharashtra with 21 cases.
