Fire incident in Kolkata metro, 11 passengers take ill, evacuated

A fire broke out in a New Garia bound Metro train in Kolkata on Thursday. When the train stopped at Maidan Metro Station in Central Kolkata when smoke was found billowing out of it.

KOLKATA: A minor fire broke out in a New Garia bound Metro train in Kolkata on Thursday. When the train stopped at Maidan Metro Station in Central Kolkata when smoke was found billowing out of it. The passengers who were stuck were brought out of the train after breaking window panes. they later walked out of the station through the railway tracks in a dark tunnel. They panicked and alleged of poor infrastructure as they faced difficulties to come out of the metro station during the incident. 11 people have taken ill due to smoke as they felt difficulty in breathing. Metro services were also disrupted due to the incident. The fire has been doused by the metro staff using water from fire hydrants. (More details awaited)
