Bandipora encounter: 3 soldiers martyred & 1 terrorist killed in gunfight

New Delhi: 3 Indian soldiers have been martyred and 1 terrorist was gunned down in an encounter in Hajin area of Bandipora district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. The encounter ended with recovery of arms and ammunition.  C4mx8XGXUAAyEID-compressed Courtesy: ANI The incident took place when security forces launched a search operation in Parraypora village after getting information about holed-up militants. The militants opened fire leading to the gunfight, the police said. Image courtesy: ANI Image courtesy: ANI Recently, four militants, two army personnel and a civilian were killed in a fierce gunfight in the wee hours at a hideout shared by the banned LeT and Hizbul Mujahideen in a village in south Kashmir. The encounter killing of the four local militants set off a violent protest by the villagers following which the army opened fire causing injuries to 15 civilians, one of whom later died. Acting on specific technical and human intelligence about the presence of militants, security forces swooped down on their hideout at Nagbal village, 70 km south of Srinagar and engaged them in an encounter, leading to their killing.
