Drone Shot Down In Jammu & Kashmir's Kanachak, Police Recover 5 Kg IED

Jammu: A drone was shot down in the Kanachak area of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Police have also informed that a piece of IED has also been recovered with this drone.

"The Hexacopter was shot down around six kilometres inside the border, approximately 5 kilograms of explosives recovered," Jammu and Kashmir Police informed.

A suspected drone was spotted in the Satwari area on Wednesday. Before this, on July 16, a drone that was seen operating around the Jammu Air Base was picked up by the radars of the anti-drone system deployed by the National Security Guard (NSG) there.

The NSG had deployed an anti-drone system in the city after a drone attack took place on the Jammu air base last month.

The Air Force had also taken measures to prevent any such attack in Jammu and other important airbases across the country. It has also taken strict measures to address threats from small drones.

After the Jammu attack, the number of drone sightings has gone up drastically and there have been several instances where the Army and Border Security Forces (BSF) troops at the border have fired at them.

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh had recently said that drones have added a new dimension to security threats from terrorist groups. Drones are being used to drop cash as well as arms and ammunition from Pakistan. About the drone attack on the Indian Air Force station in Jammu, he said that the flight path of the drones shows that they came from Pakistani airspace, the distance from the International Border to the Indian Air Force Station is 14 km.
