Delhi's IGI Airport Ranked Second Safest In The World For Proper Covid-19 Health And Safety Protocols

Besides Delhi, Germany’s Frankfurt Airport and China’s Chengdu Shuangliu airport also bagged second position securing 4.6 points out of 5.

New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, located in the outskirts of the national capital, has bagged second position after Singapore’s Changi Airport as Safest in the World for Proper Covid-19 Health and Safety Protocols. The Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said that 'Safe Travel Barometer' has certified Delhi airport as the second safest airport for effective implementation of coronavirus health and safety protocols. "Close on the heels of Singapore Changi Airport, which scored 4.7 out of 5, Delhi's IGI Airport has bagged the second position in the 'Safe Travel Barometer's' list by scoring 4.6," DIAL said in an official statement. Besides Delhi, Germany’s Frankfurt Airport and China’s Chengdu Shuangliu airport also bagged second position securing 4.6 points out of 5. Safe Travel Barometer initiative 'Safe Travel Score' is an industry-first of a kind, which assessed more than 200 airports on their implementation of coronavirus health and safety protocols during the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2010, IGI Airport was conferred the fourth best airport award in the world in the 15–25 million category, and Best Improved Airport in the Asia-Pacific Region by Airports Council International. The airport was rated as the Best airport in the world in the 25–40 million passengers’ category in 2015, by Airports Council International. Delhi Airport was awarded The Best Airport in Central Asia and Best Airport Staff in Central Asia at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2015.IGI also stood first in the new rankings for 2015 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards conducted by Airports Council International. The airport, along with Mumbai Airport was adjudged "World's Best Airport" at Airport Service Quality Awards 2017 in the highest category of airports handling more than 40 million passengers annually. Delhi’s IGI airport is one of the biggest airport in the country spreading across massive three terminals , that handles around 67 million (2019) passengers per year and as many as 1300 arrivals and departures from 70 different domestic and international airlines every day before lockdown. The airport halted its commercial flight operations after the lockdown was imposed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
