Delhi Weekend Curfew: Know These Important Guidelines To Save Yourself From Hassle

Delhi Weekend Curfew: During the weekend curfew, the movement of people, except those involved in essential services, will remain restricted for 55 hours.

New Delhi: In view of increasing cases of Covid-19 in the national capital, the Delhi government had announced imposition of weekend curfew. Under this, movement of people in Delhi will remain restricted from 10 pm on Friday till 5 am on Monday. Several restrictions have been imposed during this period in the national capital. 

During this weekend curfew, people will not be allowed to step out for any non-essential work. One will be allowed to step out of the house only for essential work or those  under exempted categories. Government employees of all offices except for the essential services will also work from home. 

Main highlights of the weekend curfew

  • The curfew will remain in effect from 10 pm on Fridays till 5 am on Mondays. 
  • Except for essential services, no one will be allowed to move out of their homes for any other purpose.
  • Those venturing out will have to produce e-passes issued by the government or valid identity cards.
  • People can apply for an e-pass for the weekend curfew and the night curfew on weekdays on www.delhi.gov.in.
  • Permission to call only half the number or 50 percent of employees in private offices. 
  • Except for essential services, all the government employees will work from home.
  • People coming from or going to airports, railway stations and inter-state bus terminuses will be allowed to travel on the production of valid tickets.
  • Metro services shall continue but the frequency will be increased to 15 to 20 minutes. 
  • There will be no restriction on movement for rail, bus or air travel. 
  • Hospitals, health centres, police, firefighters, and emergency services will continue to operate as normal. 
  • The sale of essential commodities like food, vegetables, etc will not be hampered.
  • Restaurants will remain closed but home delivery will be allowed. In the e-commerce sector, the home delivery of only essential items will be allowed.
  • Pregnant women and patients going to get medical and health services, along with attendants, will be exempted on the production of valid identity cards and a doctor's prescription.
  • Movement of individuals for marriage-related gatherings of up to 20 people will be allowed on the production of a soft or a hard copy of the invitation card.
  • Students will also be allowed to go to examination centres on the production of valid admit cards

Covid situation in Delhi

On Friday, Delhi recorded 17,335 fresh Covid cases, the highest single-day rise since May 8. Nine Covid-related deaths were also registered while the positivity rate mounted to 17.73 per cent. Active cases in Delhi on Friday rose to 39,873 from 31,497 on Thursday.
