Delhi Weather: After 'Severe Heat Wave', National Capital Experiences Respite With Dust Winds

New Delhi: The national capital is undergoing a change of weather as "strong surface winds" were experienced during the daytime on Tuesday as predicted by the weather forcast.

Visuals from Rajpath and near Rail Bhawan show the change in weather as people are able to see dust winds bringing much-needed respite while summer approaches.

The update is significant as Delhi on Monday had recorded a maximum temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature in March since 1945 when a high of 40.5 degrees Celsius was registered. Tuesday is likely to offer a respite.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had informed that the maximum temperature is eight degrees above the average for this time of the season, thereby noting that Delhi is under a "severe heatwave".

A heat wave is declared when the maximum temperature of a station reaches at least 40 degrees Celsius or more for plains. If the departure from the average is more than 6.4 degrees Celsius, it is termed as a severe heatwave.

The maximum on Tuesday is likely to be 38 degrees Celsius, the IMD had predicted.
