Delhi Violence: Police Recover Intelligence Bureau Officer's Body From Chand Bagh

In the area where Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma's body was found, the road was littered with stones and glass shards, giving an indication of the heavy stone pelting in the area.

New Delhi: As an uneasy calm gripped New Delhi on Wednesday following the aggressive clashes over the amended Citizenship Act in northeast Delhi, Police discovered the body of a security assistant in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) from Chandbagh Pulia in the riot-hit area. The deceased has been identified as Ankit Sharma, a resident of Khajuri Khas locality of northeast Delhi. In the area where Intelligence Bureau officer Ankit Sharma's body was found, the road was littered with stones and glass shards, giving an indication of the heavy stone pelting in the area. However, as per IANS, Ankit Sharma is believed to have died of a bullet injury and his body bore injury marks of severe beatings too. The deceased had been missing since Tuesday evening. His father, Ravinder Sharma, is also working in the IB. The culprits must not be spared. 20 people have already lost their lives. “So painful to watch people of Delhi suffering. Praying that we recover from this tragedy soon n work together to undo the damage done to people n communities,” he wrote. Twenty people lost their lives and 189 have been injured in the violence after pro and anti CAA groups clashed. The violence had claimed at least 13 lives till Tuesday. On Wednesday, there was a heavy deployment of force in the Chandbagh area and security personnel did not allow anyone to come out on the road. Some of the lanes were blocked with residents saying they had closed them for their own safety. Delhi Police's Special CP (Law and Order) S N Shrivastava, who was appointed to the post on Tuesday night, Additional Commissioner of Police Mandeep Singh Randhawa were in the Bhajanpura area to take a stock of the law and order situation.
