Thermal Screening, Smart Cards, Sanitizers & Masks: Check How Delhi Metro Plans To Ensure Safety Amid COVID-19
After being suspended for five months from March 22, Metro services in Delhi will now run from September 7.
As per the guidelines issued by the Union Home Ministry for Unlock 4.0, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will resume its services in a “graded manner” in the national capital from next month. As stated in various media reports, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on Sunday listed guidelines and rules to be followed by all the staff and commuters for the resumption of rail services. In order to ensure the health and hygiene of all, the authorities have prepared SOPs which will be modified as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Here's How DMRC Plans To Resume Metro Amid COVID-19:
Smart Cards: As stated in the reports, there will be a ban on the use of tokens in order to make the services touch-free to a great extent. Passengers will have to use personal smart cards which can be recharged digitally. People may also resort to other digital methods of payment. Counter services will be open to issue new cards.
Social Distancing: Commuters will have to strictly adhere to the norms of social distancing inside metro premises and the train coaches.
Face Masks: Passengers using the metro services will have to wear the face mask ahead of entering inside metro premises and train coaches. Anyone found not wearing the face mask will not be allowed to travel.
Thermal Screening: All the metro stations will now be equipped with the thermal scanners in order to check the body temperature of the commuters before using the metro services. Those with high temperatures will not be allowed to board the train.
Hand Sanitisers: Hand Sanitisers will be available at various points at the metro stations for the commuters to sanitise their hands .
Controlled Air Conditioning: Air conditioning will be controlled in order to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.
