WATCH: Nitin Gadkari Shares Aesthetic Night Views Of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Before Inauguration Of First Section

With a length of 1,386 km, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be the longest in the country, and will cut travel time between the two metropolitan cities by half.

As the Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is set to open for public on Sunday, February 12, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari shared Aesthetic night views of the "architectural marvel" on the micro-blogging site Twitter.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 246-km Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the expressway on Sunday, reported news agency PTI. The new stretch will reduce the travel time between the national capital, Delhi and Jaipur to almost 3 hours from five hours earlier.

Built at a cost of of more than Rs 12,150 crore, this first completed section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will help in the economic development of the region, according to a release by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

The Prime Minister during his visit to the region will also launch road development projects worth more than Rs 18,100 crore from Dausa. On Monday the Prime Minister will visit Karnataka to inaugurate the 14th edition of Aero India 2023 at the Air Force Station, Yelahanka in Bengaluru.

"PM Modi's emphasis on the building of excellent road infrastructure as an engine of growth, development and connectivity in "New India" is being realised by the construction of a number of ongoing world class expressways across the country," the PMO said in its statement.

With a length of 1,386 km, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be the longest in the country, and will cut travel time between the two metropolitan cities by half. It will take 12 hours to reach Delhi from Mumbai from the current 24 hours, once the entire stretch of the expressway is completed.

The expressway will pass through six states of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra and connect major cities like Kota, Indore, Jaipur, Bhopal, Vadodara and Surat, according to the PMO release.
