A PIL has been filed before the Delhi High Court seeking an FIR against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal and AAP leaders for recording and posting clips of court hearings on social media without court permission
Advocate Vaibhav Singh has filed a PIL seeking a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the incident where Kejriwal's wife, AAP leaders and several social media handles who posted the audio/video of Arvind Kejriwal addressing the Rouse Avenue court in the case related to Delhi Liquor Policy.
On March 28, the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was produced before the Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the case of alleged money laundering in Delhi liquor policy case.
As he appeared in the court, Kejriwal addressed the court personally and alleged that ED was running an extortion racket for the BJP.
The fresh PIL filed in the court has contended that after the Delhi CM addressed the Rouse Avenue Court on March 28, several social media handles associated with AAP and other opposition parties posted video/audio recording of the court proceedings on social media.
He has mentioned Sunita Kejriwal's post on X where she reposted an audio recording uploaded by a X account named Akshay with a '#MoneyTrailExposedByKejriwal.'
The Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while appearing in court thanked the ED officials before beginning his address. He said that he wants to speak in the court and asserted that no court has proven him guilty till now. While speaking on his arrest he said the actual money trail is Sarath Reddy giving Rs 55 crores to BJP via electoral bonds after arrest.
Kejriwal said that Sarath Reddy donated 50 crores to BJP after being arrested. I have proof that this is a racket to frame me.
"Money trail is established. He donated 50 crores to BJP after being arrested," Kejriwal told the court.
Following the address, clips of court hearings were shared on social media.
The PIL contends that recording of court proceedings is prohibited under the “High Court of Delhi Rules for Video Conferencing for Courts 2021.”
The petitioner further argues that the circumstances under which the audio/video recording went viral smells deep conspiracy by the political parties to malign the image of judiciary and mislead the common people of this nation and to show the general public that the judiciary is working on the behest of government and under the pressure of the Central Government.
He called this a conspiracy hatched by Arvind Kejriwal and AAP to gain public sentiment.
