Kejriwal Government Plans New York's Central Park Like Project For Delhi In A Bid To Clean The Toxic Air

Delhi government's ambitious project to clean the air in the city includes replantation in 423 hectares of land in the next 5 years.

New Delhi: To improve the air quality and t make the city 'clean & green' Delhi government has formulated a plan to redevelop the Central Ridge along the lines of New York's Central Park.

According to the plan in the Central Ridge Project, the Kejriwal government has set a target to plant local species of plants after removing Kikar from an area of ​​423 hectares in the next five years. To removed the Kikar canopy lifting method will be used to plant local species with a special emphasis to plant air purifying species. Areas that do not have the foreign variety of Kikar will see direct planting of local plant species.

The Central Ridge is close to 800 hectares covering, ​​the area between Buddha Jayanti Park, Talkatora Stadium and Delhi Cantonment from which 423 hectares will be given special attention under this project.

The aim is to clean the air of Delhi through the successful implementation of this project.

6-member committee constituted

To ensure the timely completion of the project he Kejriwal government has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of the Principal Secretary to oversee the Central Ridge Ecological Restoration project. The 6-member advisory committee consists of Principal Secretary, Principal Chief Forest Conservator, Forest Department, Expert CR Babu, Tree Expert Pradeep, Advisor Reena Gupta and Architect Suditya Sinha.

A safari to observe butterflies

A grassland will also be developed under the Central Ridge Project. It will be developed as a safari for birds and butterflies. Nearby parks will also be included in this project. In a bid to clean Delhi's toxic air
