Delhi Govt Issues Fresh Advisory For Pvt Schools After Uptick In Covid Cases — Check SOPs

The fresh advisory also stated that schools must be closed down immediately for the time being in case any Covid-19 case is reported on the premises.

New Delhi: In view of the uptick in Covid-19 cases in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government on Thursday issued an advisory to private schools to take all possible precautionary measures in order to prevent any such spreading of infection.

In the advisory, Directorate of Education of the national capital stated that school authorities must intimate to Directorate about any Covid case noticed/reported in the institute.

It also said that the school must be closed down immediately for the time being in case any Covid-19 case is reported on the premises.

Additionally, the government has also released standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all schools functional in the capital city.

Check SOPs Below

1. Wearing of masks by students, teachers and other staff of the school.

2. Maintenance of social distancing to the possible extent.

3. Regular washing of hands and use of sanitizers.

4. Creating awareness about the prevention of Covid infection among students, teachers, other supporting staff and parents visiting the school etc.

Delhi Covid Update

The advisory, dated: April 13, was released after Delhi reported 299 COVID-19 cases, a jump of 118 per cent in two days. According to the data shared by Delhi Health Department, positivity rate currently stands at 2.49 per cent.

The city had recorded 137 cases on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the Delhi government is keeping an eye on the COVID-19 situation and there is no need to panic since hospitalisations are low.

His deputy Manish Sisodia said the government will soon issue guidelines for schools in view of the slight rise in COVID-19 cases. There have been reports of several school-going children testing positive for COVID-19 in Delhi and NCR.

The positivity rate in Delhi has jumped from 0.5 per cent to 2.70 per cent in a week. No fresh fatality due to COVID-19 was recorded on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will also hold a meeting on April 20 to discuss measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the city.
