DCW Issues Notice To Delhi Police After Attack On Women Who Accused Rajasthan Minister’s Son Of Rape

In the issued notice, DCW seeks a detailed report from Delhi Police regarding the incident.

New Delhi: After the 23-year-old woman who accused Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Mahesh Joshi’s son of rape, suffered an ink attack in the national capital, the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) on Sunday issued a notice to the Delhi police.

"Some unidentified persons... threw a chemical over her face & threatened her to withdraw her rape case," reads the notice, news agency ANI reported.

In the issued notice, DCW seeks a detailed report from Delhi Police regarding the incident.

On Saturday night, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast District) Esha Pandey got a PCR call reporting that several miscreants had thrown something at the woman and fled.

The victim was transported to AIIMS Trauma Centre shortly after the incident.

At approximately 9.30 p.m., the victim was strolling with her mother near Kalindi Kunj Road when two youths hurled something at her and ran. She also claims that she was 'threatened to withdraw her case.'

“The blue liquid prima facie looks like ink," DCP Pandey was quoted by IANS in its report.

Based on her testimony, the Shaheen Bagh police station filed a FIR under sections 195 A (threatening anybody to submit false evidence), 506 (criminal intimidation), 323 (voluntarily inflicting harm), and 34 (acts done by multiple people in furtherance of a common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The victim had previously reported Rohit Joshi, the son of Rajasthan Cabinet Minister Mahesh Joshi, to the Sadar Bazar police station for sexual assault.

“She had alleged that Rohit Joshi came in contact with her through Facebook in 2020. He took her to Sawai Madhopur on January 8, 2021, gave her cold drink laced with sedatives and made sexual relationship without her consent," DCP (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said.
