New Delhi: Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw was caught in a controversy after a video of him getting physical with a woman went viral on social media on Thursday.

According to the report, the fight between Shaw and fans started after the cricketer reportedly refused to click selfies with them.

A social media user sharing the video of the fight on Twitter wrote, "Hustle video of #Cricketer #Prithvishaw & #influencer #Sapnagill outside Barrel mansion club in vile parle east #Mumbai, it is said that related to click photo with cricketer later whole fight started."

According to ABP News sources, the incident took place at the Mansion Club of Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai on Wednesday night.

According to the police complaint, both parties first engaged in an argument over selfies but it soon turned into a fight with a baseball bat and a car chase in Mumbai, Times of India reported.

According to the TOI report, eight people were named in the police case for allegedly assaulting Shaw and his friend, breaking the windshield of their car, and demanding Rs 50,000.

According to the reports, two accused, identified as Shobhit Thakur and Sana or Sapna Gill, have refused the charges and even claimed that Shaw assaulted them first.

"Sapna was assaulted by Prithvi. A stick was seen in Prithvi's hand. Prithvi's friends assaulted the group first. Sapna is currently at Oshiwara police station. The police are not allowing her to go for medical," Ali Kashif was quoted as saying by India Today.

At the club, Sana and Shobit approached Shaw for a selfie following which the cricketer obliged. After taking one selfie, the accused demanded another, which Prithvi refused. Following this, the manager sent the accused out of the hotel.

According to sources, the accused waited for Shaw and his friend to come out of the club. They followed a car presuming that Shaw was inside and stopped it near the Jogeshwari Link Road Lotus petrol pump. The accused broke the glass of the car with a baseball bat.

However, Prithvi was not in the car when it was attacked and was being driven by his friend. Shaw's friend was also reportedly thrashed. Shaw had left for home in another car from the hotel, sources said.

After this incident, Prithvi's friend reached the Oshiwara police station. The police, based on his complaint, registered a case against Sana Gill and Shobit Thakur. Police said they were investigating the incident. According to an official, the case has been registered under sections 384,143, 148,149, 427,504, and 506 of the IPC.
