In the first phase of vaccination drive, healthcare workers are being inoculated. After medicos, other frontline workers like police, armed forces and municipal workers are scheduled to get the vaccine. The third category to be vaccinated can be people over the age of 50 years, followed by those below the age limit but have co-morbidities.
Opposition has been raising questions over the vaccination drive launched by the Centre with several Congress leaders stating that PM Modi should get vaccinated first.
In total 7.86 lakh healthcare workers have received COVID-19 vaccine jabs till the evening of the fifth day of the nationwide immunisation drive, according to a provisional report of the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday.
However, on the fifth day of the vaccination drive, 82 adverse events following immunization (AEFIs) have been reported till 6 pm, the health ministry said.
