Corpse Of 57-Year-Old Man Who Jumped From Mumbai's Bandra-Worli Sea Link Recovered

An official said the corpse of a 57-year-old man who leapt from the Bandra-Worli Sea Link was retrieved from the Arabian Sea on Tuesday after a search that included the Navy and Indian Coast Guard, news agency PTI reported. According to the official, Tikam Makhija, a garment businessman and Khar resident, went to the cable-stayed bridge, parked his car there, and leapt into the sea on Monday morning. He had been upset for a few days, he claimed.

A crew of divers and an Indian Navy Chetak chopper were put into duty. However, they were unable to locate Makhija on Monday.

The search resumed on Tuesday, with the Navy helicopter seeing a corpse floating in the sea about 2 p.m., according to an official. “A rescue team was rushed to spot on a boat and the body was brought to the Chaityabhoomi jetty,” the official was quoted by PTI in its report.
He said family members recognised the deceased as Makhija and that an accidental death complaint will be filed at the Shivaji Park police station. He stated that the body would be returned to the family following the post-mortem.
According to the official, Makhija became depressed after suffering major head trauma in a vehicle accident in Kalina, a western suburb, last month.
The businessman endured procedures but has been depressed since. According to the official, he would notify his family members about his intention to terminate his life.
According to the official, Makhija discussed suicide with a relative the day before he leapt into the water.
