Coronavirus : No Lockdown Extension In The National Capital, Says Satyendra Jain Amid Rising Cases
The number of active cases in the national capital stands at 20871 while the death toll has surpassed 1000 mark.
New Delhi: While speculations were being made about the extension of lockdown in view of the daily spike in numbers, the Delhi Health Minister clearly stated on Friday morning lockdown in the capital city will not be extended.

The daily surge in numbers crossed 10,000 today and with the number of infected cases increasing rapidly many states have resorted to lockdown again. Rajasthan govt has sealed its border partially and has allowed interstate movement only with prior permission. Bhopal has also declared a weekend lockdown after Madhya Pradesh witnessed a spike in numbers.
With these announcements, a rumour also circulated in social media which claimed that the central government will announce another lockdown from June 15. The screenshot in question looked like it was from a news channel and claimed that the lockdown will also see a complete shutdown of flights and trains.
Twitter handle @PIB Fact Check which counters misinformation on government policies and schemes, posted stating that this claim is in fact fake. The Press Information Bureau corrected that fake news that was going viral on social media and asked people to be careful of such news.
India on Friday saw a rise of 10,956 cases which takes the total number closer to 3 lakh mark. The number of active cases is 141842, including the 147195 cured/discharged/migrated cases, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The death toll rose to 8498.
