Coronavirus: India Records Worst-Ever Spike With Nearly 50K Cases In Single Day; Total Tally Breaches 14 Lakh Mark

Total Covid-19 positive cases stand at 14,35,453 including 4,85,114 active cases, 9,17,568 cured/discharged/migrated & 32,771 deaths, the Union Health Ministry stated on Monday morning.

Coronavirus In India: India's Covid-19 tally crossed the grim 14 Lakh mark on Monday, as it witnessed its worst ever single-day spike in Covid-19 infections. It recorded  708 deaths and highest single-day spike of 49,931 cases reported in last 24 hours, as per the health ministry data. The recoveries/deaths ratio is 96.55%:3.45% now, the Government of India said on Monday. India has 9,17,567 recovered or cured cases of its total 14.35 lakh confirmed cases.  Total tests conducted: The total number of Covid-19 samples tested up to 26th July is 1,68,06,803 including 5,15,472 samples tested yesterday, said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).  Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu & Delhi remain worst-hit:  Though the surge in cases and penetration to tier-II cities remain a cause of concern all across the country, the condition of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Delhi gets worse with increasing number of infections everyday. Maharashtra's total confirmed cases surpassed 3.75 lakh grim milestone with Monday's reported data. It has 14,8905 active cases and 13656 deaths. PM to launch PM To Launch 3 High Throughput Covid-19 Testing' Facilities Today:Global Status: India is the world's third worst-hit country by the virus, after the United States and Brazil. The United States on Saturday recorded 68,212 new coronavirus cases in the previous 24 hours, Johns Hopkins University reported in its real-time tally. In order to ramp up testing of Covid-19 countrywide, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch high throughput Covid-19 testing facilities on Monday via video conferencing , the Prime Minister’s Office said on Sunday. According to a release from the PMO, these facilities will ramp up testing capacity in the country and help in strengthening early detection and treatment, thus assisting in controlling the spread of the pandemic. These labs will also reduce turn-around-time and exposure of lab personnel to infectious clinical materials. Also Watch: Over weight are more prone to Coronavirus infection?
