Bad News For Mumbaikars! Covid-19 Cases Doubled Faster In Financial Capital Last Week
According to the city civic body, the Coronavirus cases doubled at a faster rate in country's financial capital last week as compared to the previous week and the average growth rate of the viral infection also went up.
India seems to see no respite from the COVID-19 horror as there's a continuous surge in the number of people infected with the Coronavirus infections, with Mumbai being the worst effected city.

According to the city civic body, the Coronavirus cases doubled at a faster rate in country's financial capital last week as compared to the previous week and the average growth rate of the viral infection also went up.
Going by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data quoted in a PTI report, Mumbai registered the slowest doubling rate of 89 days and the lowest growth rate of 0.79 per cent in August 8. However, the doubling rate became faster at 83 days and the average growth rate of COVID-19 cases rose to 0.84 per cent on Saturday.
As per the figures, the average doubling rate in Mumbai again slowed a little on Sunday to 85 days. The growth rate decreased to 0.82 per cent, as per BMC records.
The reports further mention that on June 15, the Maharashtra capital Mumbai had an average doubling rate of 28 days and the average growth rate of 2.49 per cent, which gradually improved to 77 days and 0.9 per cent on July 31.

It is to be noted that the average doubling and growth rates are calculated taking COVID-19 cases of past seven days into consideration.
Going by the latest data, Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with a total of 5,95,865 cases and 20,037 deaths. At present, there are as many as 1,58,705 active cases in the state while more than 4,17,123 COVID-19 infected patients have been recovered and discharged from the hospitals.
