Pilot Vs Gehlot: There'll Be 'Amicable Settlement' To Rajasthan Congress Crisis, Says KC Venugopal

Congress Leader KC Venugopal says there will be an amicable settlement to the Rajasthan issue.

New Delhi: Congress General Secretary, KC Venugopal on Sunday said he was confident that there will be an amicable settlement to the Rajasthan Congress Crisis.

"There will be an amicable settlement in the issue pertaining to the Rajasthan affairs...Congress will come to power again in Rajasthan," he told news agency ANI.

The statement is in reference to the infighting between CM Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Pilot, which started with the party's victory in the 2018 assembly elections over the matter of chief ministership.

Earlier senior sources in the party stated, the decision on the Rajasthan Congress crisis will be taken after the Gujarat elections. As the Bharat Jodo Yatra is set to enter the Congress-ruled state in December from Madhya Pradesh, leaders who support former deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot are demanding solutions to existing issues.

In July 2020, Pilot and MLAs supporting him rebelled against Ashok Gehlot. In September, when Gehlot was set to enter the race for the Congress president post, Gehlot loyalists rebelled against the party high command's probable move to make Pilot the new chief minister.

KC Venugopal also spoke about the Yatra and said that it wasn't about making Rahul Gandhi the next prime minister, "Do not reduce the value of the Yatra"

"For the last few years, BJP is busy tarnishing the image of Rahul Gandhi. But now, people are seeing the real face of Rahul Gandhi. He is educated, compassionate, and takes a stand", he added.

He said that the Yatra isn't a political one. He also asserted that the Congress march will be a success in Rajasthan and that this was the most appropriate time to carry out the Bharat Jodo Yatra.
