Chopper carrying Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani makes emergency landing

New Delhi: After Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' chopper crash-landed in Latur, a helicopter carrying Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani made an emergency landing at the Ahmedabad airport due to overheating of engine, an airport source said. The chopper made the emergency landing at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in the evening, the source said on Saturday, reported news agency PTI. "The CM was on his way to Himmatnagar from Umargam when the helicopter's engine started generating heat, forcing the pilot to land at Ahmedabad, the nearest airport," he said, reported news agency. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday escaped unhurt after his helicopter crash-landed in Latur. All on board are safe and there's nothing to worry, Fadnavis informed on Twitter. He was onboard with his OSD Praveen Pardesi, two other staffers and the pilot. The chopper developed a technical snag within two to three minutes after take off. "Nobody got hurt. My media advisor Ketan Pathak has suffered minor injuries. With the blessings of 11 crore people of Maharashtra, I am safe," Fadnavis said in a video message. "This is a new helicopter. We will seek information from police on this incident," the chief minister said. Fadnavis was in the city for a water conservation programme and was enroute to Mumbai. Speaking to ABP News, his wife Amruta told ABP News, "The chopper crash took off from Nilanga to Mumbai. He told me all are fine. All if well is the crux of the matter." Indian aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the there were six persons on board and due to variable win patters, the pilot decided to land the copper and while landing it got entangled in wires.
