CAUTION: Your McDonald’s burger could be prepared from 16-day-old oil
New Delhi: Yes, this is true! After Maggi noodle maker Nestle, the fate of fast food giant McDonald’s seems to be landing in soup.
According to a routine inspection drive conducted by the Jaipur health department on June 17, three branches of the company were reportedly using oil that was over 16 days old while cooking their yummy McAloo Tikkis, French fries and other snacks.
Reportedly, the same oil was being heated constantly at 360 degrees due to which it had turned black in color. Health experts are of the view that regular reheating of oil depletes it of all its nutrition, and consumption of dishes prepared in such oil may cause severe ailments ranging from heart diseases to breast cancer.
During the inspection drive, it was also discovered that some McDonald’s outlets did not even have a proper oil management system. This discovery prompted officials to collect samples from other food giants like KFC and Subway to make sure that these chains weren’t resorting to unhealthy food practices as well.
Though the company has denied the allegations against it, we have our fingers crossed.
