Brij Bhushan Pleads 'Not Guilty' As Court Frames Charges Of Sexual Harassment, Outraging Women's Modesty

A Delhi court on Tuesday framed charges of sexual harassment, intimidation and outraging the modesty of women against ex-Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in a criminal case filed by female wrestlers.
Singh pleaded not guilty to the charges before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Priyanka Rajpoot when questioned if admits he is guilty of the charges.
Charges of criminal intimidation were also filed against former WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar in the case.
After denying ticket from Uttar Pradesh's Kaiserganj to Bhushan who is a sitting MP, the BJP fielded his son Karan Bhushan Singh for the seat.
The Rouse Avenue Court formally framed charges against BJP MP in women wrestlers' sexual harassment case under seven sections which he denied and claimed a trial.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has also moved an application seeking supply of CDR, travel documents of foreign travel as Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief.
Counsel appearing for Singh told the court that he did not stay in the same hotel with players in foreign countries.
The court has sought a reply from Delhi police on his application.
Earlier the court had passed an order to frame charges against the BJP MP Singh.
"This court has found sufficient material on record to frame charges against accused no. 1 Brij Bhushan Saran Singh for the offences under Section 354, 354A of Indian Penal Code regarding victims no. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5...This court has also found sufficient material on record to frame charges against accused no. 1 Brij Bhushan Singh for the offences under Section 506 Part 1 of IPC with respect to victim no. 1 and 5.” the court said while pronouncing order.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on June 1 at 2 PM.
