Punjab CM Bhagwant To Get Married Today
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will on Thursday tie the nuptial knot for the second time. Mann (48) separated from his first wife in 2015. He has two children from his first marriage. Only family members, including Mann's mother, sister, relatives and a few guests will attend the wedding, sources said, adding Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal is expected to be in attendance.
"The chief minister is getting married in a private ceremony here tomorrow. He will tie the knot with Dr Gurpreet Kaur, who belongs to Pehowa in Haryana's Kurukshetra," AAP's Punjab unit chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang told PTI over the phone.
PM To Inaugurate Seminar On National Education Policy In Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a three-day seminar at Varanasi on Thursday which will see participation of over 300 educationists deliberating on implementation of National Education Policy.
The Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam will provide a platform for leading Indian Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to discuss, deliberate and share insights on strategies, success stories and best practices in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP), 2020.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, will also attend the summit, a senior MoE official said on Wednesday.
NDA Prez Nominee Droupadi Murmu To Meet Assam Lawmarkers To Seek Support For Polls
NDA presidential nominee Droupadi Murmu, currently visiting the northeastern states to seek support from lawmakers for the July 18 polls, is scheduled to spend the second consecutive night in the Assam capital before meeting MPs and MLAs from the state on Thursday.
Murmu arrived in Assam late on Tuesday night and left for Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya on Wednesday to campaign in these states. She will return here and spend the night at a city hotel before meeting MPs and legislators of the ruling BJP and its allies the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and the United Peoples' Party Liberal (UPPL) on Thursday to seek their support for the polls, BJP sources told news agency PTI.
Mumbai Remains Soaked In Rains, More Downpour In Maharashtra Today
Three persons were injured in a landslide in Mumbai which continued to get pounded by heavy showers for the third straight day on Wednesday, resulting in water-logging at many places and traffic disruptions. No relief was expected anytime soon as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for several parts of Maharashtra, including the financial capital, for the next two days.
The IMD has issued a 'red alert' for south Konkan, Goa and south central Maharashtra from July 6-8. It said heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places during this period.
For north central Maharashtra, east Vidarbha and west Vidarbha, the IMD issued a 'yellow alert' for Wednesday and orange for Thursday and Friday. There was a 'yellow alert' for the Marathwada region, forecasting heavy rainfall till July 8.
Mother Dairy Slashes MRP Of Soyabean, Rice Bran Oils By Rs 14/Litre After Govt's Order
Mother Dairy on Thursday said it has cut the prices of soyabean and rice bran oils by up to Rs 14 per litre, a day after the government directed edible oil firms to pass on the benefits of fall in global cooking oil prices to consumers.
"Passing on the benefits of the government's intervention subsequently to the consumers, we have further reduced the MRP of Dhara Soyabean Oil and Dhara Ricebran Oil by up to Rs 14 per litre, which will be available in the market by next week," a company spokesperson told PTI.
