'Will Hang You By Crane, Shave Your Beard': BJP MP Threatens Asaduddin Owaisi For Opposing CAA

According to reports, Aravind made these statements against the Hyderabad MP and the CM because of their opposition to the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Telangana: In what is considered to be a below-the-belt-communal remarks, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dharmapuri Aravind from Nizamabad threatened All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi of violence, saying that he would 'hang him [Owaisi] upside down' and 'shave off his beard'. Speaking at a public rally, the BJP MP claimed that he would 'give the beard a promotion' by sticking it on Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. According to reports, Aravind made these statements against the Hyderabad MP and the CM because of their opposition to the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). "Asaduddin Owaisi, I warn you that I will hang you upside down by a crane and shave your beard. I will give promotion to your beard by sticking it to the Chief Minister KCR," Aravind said.

"Asaduddin should remember that Nizamabad belongs to BJP. Nine years ago his brother Akbaruddin was stabbed several times and shot by a well-known person known to them. Your brother is still availing treatment for those injuries even after nine years," he added. A week after Owaisi addressed a meeting in Nizamabad against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Arvind took exception to the former's remarks that he would 'tear' the BJP. He told the MIM's leader that his younger brother Akbaruddin Owaisi was stabbed and "torn by your person... in your area" nine years ago in the Old City area of Hyderabad and asked "you talk about (tearing) BJP?" Owaisi should concentrate on development of Hyderabad being its MP, he said, adding several areas in the old city were 'stinking'. Arvind, who defeated Chandrasekhar Raos daughter K Kavitha in the Lok Sabha elections, alleged the chief minister has become a Mullah. CM's son is an atheist will they have any concern for dharma. They are talking about secularism? the BJP MP asked. Claiming that CAA was against the Constitution, Owaisi, in his Nizamabad speech, had recalled he had torn a copy of the bill in Parliament. Last week, Owaisi held a meeting in the Eidgah ground in Nizamabad, where he opposed the CAA and also the National Register of Citizens (NRC). The AIMIM chief, on several occasions, have called the CAA unconstitutional and claimed that it would threaten the fabric of Indian society. (With inputs from agencies)
