BJP Going To Dissolve Gujarat Assembly & Announce Polls Next Week?: AAP Chief Kejriwal

Referring to AAP's efforts to plan and expand its base in the state, Kejriwal said “Is BJP planning to dissolve the Gujarat assembly and announce elections next week? So afraid of AAP?”

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and national convener of Aam Aadmi Party Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday asked if the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party will recommend dissolving the Gujarat state assembly next week and make an announcement about polls.

Referring to AAP's efforts to plan and expand its base in the state which will face assembly polls later this year, Kejriwal said in his tweet on Saturday “Is BJP planning to dissolve the Gujarat assembly and announce elections next week? So afraid of AAP?”

This comes as PM Modi held a meeting with Gujarat BJP leaders on Saturday.

AAP is seeking to expand its base in several states, especially after its victory in Punjab earlier this year, and is focusing on Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh which will go to the polls later this year.

Kejriwal reached Surat on Saturday to address 'Adivasi Sankalp Mahasammelan' jointly with Bharatiya Tribal Party (BTP) chief Chhotu Vasava and his MLA son Mahesh Vasava on Sunday in Bharuch, on May 1. It is likely that this may lead to an official announcement of an alliance with the party ahead of the assembly elections. This is Kejriwal’s second visit to Gujarat in less than a month and his first visit to South Gujarat and Vadodara.

Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a roadshow in Ahmedabad earlier this month.

AAP had fought the 2017 assembly polls in Gujarat but could not open its account. The party had made headlines after it won 27 seats in Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) in February last year with the BJP getting 93 seats and Congress drawing a blank.
