Arms Case: Special Court In Bihar Convicts Mokamah MLA Anant Singh

The case pertains to the recovery of arms and bullets from the Mokamah MLA’s ancestral house in Ladma village of Barh.

New Delhi: A Special Court in Bihar’s Patna city on Tuesday convicted Mokamah MLA Anant Singh, who is lodged in the Beur Jail since the last 34 months under the Arms Act. The court of Special Judge Triloki Dubey ordered the decision in this regard. The Mokamah MLA was present in the court room when the verdict was made , according to ABP News correspondent. The sentence of Singh, who joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in 2020, will be heard on June 21.

The case pertains to the recovery of arms and bullets from the Mokamah MLA’s ancestral house in Ladma village of Barh.

Earlier on 16 August 2019, a team of the Patna Police raided Singh’s ancestral house in Ladma village.

An AK-47, two hand grenades, 26 rounds of bullets and a magazine were recovered by the police from the MLA’s house in a search operation that lasted for about 11 hours.

Singh is facing trial under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with this case.

The Mokamah MLA was earlier known to be close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He, however, fell out with Kumar ahead of the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections. This led to his exit from the Janata Dal (United).

Singh, who won from the Mokama constituency for the fourth consecutive time in 2020 on a RJD ticket, has been accusing the Janata Dal (United) leaders of conspiring against him to get him framed in criminal cases.
