JD(U) President Nitish Kumar on Sunday took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record ninth time. He switched alliances once again to tie up with the BJP months ahead of the Lok Sabha election 2024.
Kumar was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Rajendra Arlekar at the Raj Bhavan. Along with him, eight leaders took oath as ministers. The Bihar CM also informed that Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha have been appointed as Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar.
BJP national president J P Nadda and other senior party leaders were present at the swearing-in ceremony. While talking to reporters, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said, “I was with them (NDA) earlier too. We went on different paths, but now we are together and will remain so. I came back to where I was (NDA) and now there is no question of going anywhere else".
Former Bihar BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal alleged that Tejashwi Yadav was conspiring to become Chief Minister and that the "whole conspiracy was exposed".
Amid the political crisis in Bihar, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav hit out at Nitish for severing ties and said, "He was a tired CM. Khel abhi shuru huai, khel abhi baki hain. (The game has just begun and it remains to unfold) I can give you in writing that the JDU party will be finished in 2024. The public is with us", reported ANI.
Nitish Kumar on Sunday resigned as the Chief Minister of Bihar and staked claim to form a new government with the BJP, which he had dumped less than 18 months ago. Nitish Kumar, known to switch sides at the drop of a hat, once again came into the BJP fold as part of the NDA.
